as physicist i have a remark:

should be different:

you can put a big load (large red arrow down) on the short (right) side
and
a small load (short red arrow down) on the long (left) side
in order to have the system in balance ( length_of_side multiplied by
load
must be equal on both sides ) .

of course, if there is a human hanging on one side, you should take a
"little" bit more load
on the other side to be safe ;-)
