poslite anglicky Sunday Rest is the new edition of Slovak National Gallery events which continues in the tradition of the popular Siesta program of bringing attractive but relaxed English language lectures related to the exhibitions currently on display at Esterházy Palace. The lectures delivered by SNG experts are oriented on an entire exhibition or a theme running through selected works of art. Sunday Rest takes place on the first Sunday of the month at 4:00 p.m. Reservations are not required. ![]() ✖ Sunday May 1 / 4:00 p.m. Siesta at the Gallery in English / Sunday Rest: Netherlandish Painting ✖ Barbora Mistríková, an assistant in the department of old art collections, shall present the entire exhibition of Netherlandish Painting by leading participants through the development of Netherlandish art from the Late Middle Ages up to the 18th century. In addition to noting changes in content and painting approaches, Barbora will point out the most significant artwork of Netherlandish painting from the Slovak National Gallery collections and the methods of their acquisition. ✖ Sunday June 5 / 4:00 p.m. Siesta at the Gallery in English / Sunday Rest: Anton Cepka. Kinetic Jewellery ✖ Anton Cepka is one of the most famous European jewelers. His modest use of materials and craftsmanship are combined with the involvement of motion, the world of technology and unconventional materials. Jewelry maker and gallery pedagogue, Katarína Defeo Fiúza Siposová will present the work and international significance of Anton Cepka for applied arts and discuss the technological procedures related to creation of his work. ✖ Sunday July 3 / 4:00 p.m. Siesta at the Gallery in English / Sunday Rest: François Kollar ✖ This exhibition presents the figure of François Kollar, the photographer with Slovak roots. His photographs from fashion, advertising and industry are famous for the extent of experimenting in the context of nascent modern photography. The lecture will discuss Kollar’s place in the history of photography and how he managed to combine the motifs of manual work and motifs related to the commissions for fashion houses and magazines. ✖ Sunday August 7 / 4:00 p.m. Sunday Rest: Stano Filko: Poetry about Space - Cosmos ✖ Sunday Rest in August will feature an exhibition of Stano Filko, a member of the strong generation of Slovak conceptual artists. Filko created his own artistic and theoretical system on the boundaries of several media in which he combines the universe, everyday reality, spirituality and many other motifs. This lecture will provide you with a peek into his philosophy and several layers of his work. |
