Winner of the Opel - Vauxhall of the year 2049 car design competition was elected last week. The lucky contestant was French designer Augustin Barbot with his the Opel Darwin 2049 concept. The event, co-sponsored by General Motors Europe, selected its winner concept from 18 other atypical models.

According to Barbot, the energy to move the lightweight vehicle is produced by three turbines, two at the front and one at the back. With wheels missing, the vehicle hovers 10cm above the ground by its electro-magnetic power or enters the sea like a submarine.
