conercing alternatives - I like what Dusan wrote above about opensource and copyleft..
unfortunately this doesn't cover things in the past , which are already sort of cultural heritage, and subject to copyright [movies, books published such and so on..]
plus. most important, it doesn't help when it comes to breaking privacy: you still have to log-on to your machine and show mister officer that you have just open source/copyleft/whatever... so your privacy is already intruded..,, i don't think they are so interested in checking a few lames who will get fined [even though that fine might make you search for a job till the end of your life to pay it..], as they are interested in information - like access to your private server kde stahujes torrenty alebo kde dalsi 20 ludia maju ucet,, [jasne, jasne, viem, that server should be highly secured...which is not always the case.. plusthe disks can be confiscated too:]
