And then there were six February 10th, 2008 I was only 50% out yesterday when I expected four bids to host the OpenOffice.org Annual Conference this year (OOoCon 2008). It’s felt like every time I looked in my inbox today, there was another entry waiting. With an hour to go before the final deadline of midnight UTC, I’m heading off to bed with a total of six bids received: * Amsterdam, The Netherlands * Beijing, China * Bratislava, Slovakia * Budapest, Hungary * Dundalk, Ireland * Orvieto, Italy We will be opening the voting on Friday, but with this range of choices on offer, it’s clear this is going to be the hardest ever decision. Fortunately, although the Marketing Project is responsible for awarding OOoCon, the actual decision is made by a vote of all Community members who are planning to attend. So I just get one vote, same as everyone else, leaving me free to try and persuade others :-) (although I believe we’re going to have to move away from the traditional ‘first past the post’ voting scheme if we’re to get a sensible result this year). Which way will I vote? well, I have some first ideas… If you’re an OOoCon veteran, which OOoCon did you enjoy most? and which of the six contenders is most likely to repeat the experience? z blogu marketing leada openoffice.org |
