we are born into a complex society with too many things to juggle. we have made things overly complicated while life by itself is very simple and enjoyable. to experience this, i think it helps to get to the fundamentals. we humans are animals just like any other. we are biologically wired to do only few fundamental things: we need to reproduce, we need to eat, we need to protect ourselves, be part of a tribe / community, our body is built for movement and life in exterior surrounded by nature. we need water, sun, shelter and safety. our fundamental needs are this simple. how many people are listening to these needs nowadays? our society has gotten overly complicated and wrapped these basic needs into concepts like fashion, fame, success, carreer, wealth, sport, competition. all these are artificial problems. our hunt for food takes 20 seconds to get into fridge with barely any effort to move. there is no sense of reward and accomplishment as if a group of hunter-gatherers just hunted down a mamooth or foraged a bush of berries for few hours to have something to eat for next few days and celebrate the success together dancing, singing and sharing stories by the fire. our need for community and culture is attempted via a mobile app where we communicate with auditory and visual representation of a real person or events and we argue over politics and adore celebrities which are half the planet away from us while we ignore what is happening in our close surroundings and within ourselves. our need for safety is solved by wrapping ourselves into a tiny concrete prison built from artificial materials which is so far from natural habitat of our species as it could be. and we work meaningless job all life just to have it. our need for reproduction is prerequisited by hunt for status, power, wealth, look and success. i like my life because i experienced a fundamental basic life in nature where i lived in a small group with minimum technology, where creating our food and sustaining our habitat and environment was our only job. we shared everything and were dependent on each other. now i am again part of this complicated western human society, but whenever something doesnt feel right, the biggest challenge is to identify which of my basic fundamental needs are not satisfied or how complicated has the path towards them gotten and then taking steps to correction. most of times its enough to just get out of house, turn off your phone, do nothing, ignore all you “have to” do, go to nature, walk somewhere far, talk to humans or get time alone, share how you feel, work with your hands, take care of your body, hug your friends or family, eat simple food, drink enough water, let rain fall on your skin, watch the sunset and sleep well. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
