That's it, I'm out of here...
Just a quick note to those I’m only in touch with through Facebook: I deactivated my account a few days ago and will delete it permanently as soon as I can. (I had to reactivate it briefly because I realized I wanted to save some pictures.)

I’m done with proprietary, secretive algorithms deciding what I see and trying to hijack my attention as much as possible while we’re seeing more and more of the negative consequences of social media in the real world.

It’s not just about political polarization, manipulation, or the spread of falsehoods and conspiracy theories. It’s also about screen addiction, mental health issues, decreased attention spans, and bullying and harassment, among many other problems.

Of course, social media has its positive sides too, connections, friendships, shared interests... but I believe many of those things can still be found on the "regular" internet I grew up with, and more importantly, in the physical world.

So, if you’d like to stay in touch: let’s call, write, or meet up! And in the mean time, don’t lose yourselves in the Metaverse or other virtual realities, there’s a beautiful world out there that’s far more worthy of our attention.
