The "Full" Firedancer Release

Release Date: The full, independent version of Firedancer (written entirely in C with no Agave code) officially launched on the Solana Mainnet on December 12, 2025.

Current Adoption: As of early February 2026, it is no longer just "upcoming"—it’s live and securing approximately 21-25% of the total network stake.

Performance: It has successfully demonstrated the ability to handle over 1 million transactions per second (TPS) in test environments, though the live Mainnet is currently averaging much higher stability rather than hitting those theoretical peaks daily.

Frankendancer (The Hybrid Client)
Before the full release, many validators were using Frankendancer, which combined Firedancer’s high-performance networking with the older Agave runtime.
This went live in late 2024 and served as the "bridge" while the final client was polished.
Most validators have now either fully migrated to the pure Firedancer client or are running it alongside Agave for redundancy.

David Schwartz, chief technology officer at Ripple, has reacted to Solana integrating XRP, describing this as a "good thing."

"More XRP ecosystems is a good thing. Letting XRP operate in more environments builds utility, and the XRPL remains the anchor that makes it all work," Schwartz said in a recent social media post.

wXRP, the wrapped token, will allow XRP holders to maintain the same underlying asset while gaining access to Solana’s decentralized finance products.
