Miriama Benková a Róbert Špoták premýšľajú systémovo a neznášajú vybavovačky. Robo Špoták a Mirka Benková chcú žiť vo fungujúcej krajine a odmietajú relativizovať fakty len preto, že sa im to hodí. Majú priamu skúsenosť s diletantizmom rádoby-mocipánov a vedia reflektovať pôvod kultúrneho revanšizmu.
S Robom a Mirkou sme strávili tri dni v Ľubietovej.
In search of beauty // heaviness since 2019.
Ahoj Kyberia <3 Weltschmerzen pred koncom roka opäť zvoláva na luxusnú party, labelový showcase, stretko a kamošský mikrofestival v jednom. Budeme počuť veľa intenzívnej hudby, feliť a bilancovať všetko, čo nás v uplynulý rok stretlo (a čo nás v najbližších mesiacoch čaká). Očakávajte eskalujúci lineup v zložení toho najlepšieho // najaktuálnejšieho Weltschmerzen umelectva, plus exkluzívnu hostku z dánskeho Copenhagenu, (ktorej koncert sme túžili na Slovensku urobiť už keď sme Weltschmerzen zakladali). Tentokrát sa vidíme v Novej Cvernovke! Ďakujeme, dovidenia. PS: Prinesieme aj platne!

With the world burning around us, the importance of the current moment is core, not to get lost. Focus on the important, i.e. the non-urgent, the ectoplasmic material in the cracks between the whirlwinds of hurry, angst and greed around. Scarred ourselves, yet with unrelenting blissful resistance to the unforgiving circumstances, an apocalypse is not about giving up. Circling around the chaos to find one’s own unique place(s), hailing and embracing the rare people that share their whereabouts. Connection, mutuality and community as the means to walk through the harsh cliffs of the world. WRONG was the shock, the immediacy, the pursuit of a footing. The Next Last Day is a crude map of the territory; tracing a track, a watchful way through and home.
The Next Last Day is out June 27 on Cassette and streaming // digital. Listen // buy via our bandcamp and on all streaming platforms. The album is a collaborative release of Weltschmerzen and Anabasis Artist Collective
Daniel Kordik's new release TORZA is an experimental electronica album, which under his experienced guidance, transforms into audio poetry while at the same time it can be still considered dance music. TORZA is a radiant, pulsating work full of intrinsic rhythm, vibrating mid-bass, rumbling lows, and intense percussive sounds and engaging melodies. It evokes a dynamic cosmic metropolis in which a futuristic party is unfolding, ambient noises contagiously spreading throughout the space, infiltrating and filling the gaps between objects in order to set everything into an unpredictable dance.
TORZA is out March 14 on 12'' 180g black vinyl. Listen // buy via our bandcamp and on all streaming platforms.

Dark, heavy, ravishing. That is how one could describe Existence, the second album by Fokular - one of the most resolute figures on the contemporary experimental scene in Slovakia. On his second album on Weltschmerzen, Fokular reveals yet again his roots in the sludge // doom // stoner band Möbius, where, as one half of the duo, he pounds the drums. Fokular’s electronic sound is just as intense and uncompromising—filled with darkness and a creeping, mysterious intensity.

Martin Burlas bude mať sedemdesiat, nenávidí slnko a stále viac premýšľa nad smrťou.

Eustace Cranch is the alter ego of Bratislava based musician Marek Procházka who slipped through a world of "guitar music" and a bunch of prog/punk rock bands into producing electronic music with inspiration in IDM, glitchy breakbeats, and even tekno. This colorful evolution led to the birth of the anticipated debut album titled "Balon”, where the love for noisy production, intense tempos and endless sound bending through all sorts of machines is juxtaposed also by a more mellow introspective side with one foot in psychedelia.
Balon is out January 31 on 12'' marbled orange vinyl. Listen // buy via our bandcamp and on all streaming platforms.
Viktor Ori’s debut solo album LEPSIE NEBOLO NIKDY DOBRE NEBUDE is an album all over the place. in the most complimentary of senses. coming from one of the deepest and most uncompromising projects on the Slovak contemporary music scene, it is an album of profound weltschmerzen.
the music and themes are acute, harrowing, and deeply radical. LEPSIE NEBOLO NIKDY DOBRE NEBUDE paints a bleak picture. exactly as the time we’re living in. it is a statement at times subjective and personal, at other times universal, general, generational. at all times deeply honest and political. it is not hopeful but at least, it feels sincere.
Viktor has somehow // unfathomably managed to compress Shallov’s eposes into almost-radio-friendly almost-popsongs (had the “common” radio-listener been slightly more openminded and keen on social awareness) and for the first time, his songs feature Slovak lyrics. these are not only hopeless and unsettling, but also astute, sardonic, 𝘢𝘭𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵 cynical. yet, it is perhaps this 𝘥𝘦𝘵𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘥 and more realistic way of experiencing the world that allows for some relief and reconciliation. and at the same time, encourages action.
LEPSIE NEBOLO NIKDY DOBRE NEBUDE is out November 15th: Listen // buy via our bandcamp and on all streaming platforms.
za mňa, neobjektívne, asi najlepší album tohto roka. vyskúšajte.
On "SATIS," Kordik invites his listeners on a mesmerizing journey through sound and space. Each track masterfully combines pulsating rhythms and ethereal melodies, creating an immersive experience that resonates with the architectural visuals and aspects of the project.
This unique project was created as a soundtrack for the CE ZA AR 2023 Award (National Prize for Architecture) videos and is the result of a collaboration of Weltschmerzen and the Slovak Chamber of Architects.
SATIS is out May 31 on 12'' transparent clear vinyl. Listen // buy via our bandcamp and on all streaming platforms.

The Slovak trio Berlin Manson was created as a so-called apartment band in the dark times of Covid lockdowns. The founders Patrik Nagy and Adam Dragun compensated for their lack of cultural enjoyment by creating new and original music, where Patrik provided his DIY electronic beats with live guitar and Adam his lyrics full of sarcasm and criticism of the conditions of the scene and society.

Their music is very minimalist, repetitive, still, the compositions // songs surprisingly evolve over time. The cold synths are beautifully augmented with raw or effected layers of Sajanova’s vocal. Of striking prominence is the decision to forgo the use of any beats or percussive elements. The whole album revolves just around vocals, synths, and layers, and the richness they possess enough within themselves. .
This goes in line with Suchy’s previous work, one of his trademarks being working mostly with melody and harmony, defying a lot of what is going on in contemporary experimental music. In a way, it is a strive to return to classical or pop 𝒎𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒄 in her deepest sense; experimental more in the use of sounds, approaches and forms, rather than defying the musical.

The Czecho-slovakian instrumental trio, Inheritance, invites you to rediscover their sonic journey with the reissue of their previous EPs, "Frames" (2014) and "Saturate" (2016), now elegantly entwined into a single captivating package released for the first time on vinyl, on Weltschmerzen. Comprising of the trio Jakub Volovár (guitar), Alex Strapková (piano), and Peter Kušnírik (drums), Inheritance was active in the mid 2010s in Brno, later unfortunately disbanding due to own personal pursuits.
Frames // Saturate embodies the melancholic and melodic tension characteristic of contemporary post-rock, complemented by the whimsy of piano-led instrumentals with a tint of indie-playfulness and a very slight yet powerful grain of sludge heaviness that can be traced back to Volovár's and Kušnirik's earlier post-metal project, Dawn to Come.
Frames // Saturate is first and foremost a compact sonic voyage. Volovár's evocative yet precise guitar work builds complex yet airy scaffolding, while Strapková's piano melodies create a tapestry of moods around it. Both EPs showcase Strapková's piano prowess, transforming each composition into a living organism. Kušnírik's drumming then acts as the steady pulse, guiding you through. These songs encapsulate the kind of mutualism and appreciation for (musical) interdependence that you can only develop throughout the years of practice and playing live.
Frames // Saturate is out November 17th on a limited edition 12'' vinyl. Listen // buy via our bandcamp. Soon on all streaming platforms.

Boris Vitazek is a new media artist whose work moves between the slopes of uncanny valley; on his debut Amalgam he too focuses on the waning threshold between artificial and organic and blends it even further. The album is also true to its title stylistically, stemming from different approaches to electronic music production explored over the past two years.
These nine tracks are tied together by their respective dramaturgy // every song feels significant in all its parts and conclusive on its own terms. Vitazek also works as a theatre sound designer but this music isn't an accompaniment. These are sonic representations of altered states of awareness, the sudden flares that are as surprising as they’re important and inexplicable.
Amalgam is out January 26 on tape designed by the artist, and as a digital release. Listen // support // buy via our bandcamp. Soon on all streaming platforms.
Weltschmerzen is extremely proud to present Foreigners for the first time ever on vinyl, a plan always used to be. The music has been there for over 10 years and will live forever. We are honoured we can be a part of this albums’s story and present it, for the first time, in the physical form including a booklet of Tomas’s artworks, to the people for whom The Bridgeheads always meant so much.
URN is Jakub Volovar, a long-recurring persona on the Slovak experimental music scene. DEVEQUT is URN’s third solo album, and his first collaboration with Weltschmerzen. It offers multiple modes of listening. It could be Christmas music, or an album that you listen to driving through a barren winter country, a desolate mountain pass, or by a fireplace. Not an electronic album, neither an acoustic one. Not entirely jazz or trap, but… there is just so much gleaming through.
Collage is an approach that works really great, unless you make it fall apart. DEVEQUT presents a journey through a range of sounds, moods and genres and in the span of only 8 tracks, make us glance into what goes on in Volovar’s head and heart. It’s 8 tracks that neither Bohren and der Club of Gore, Flying Lotus, Erik Honoré, nor Arca would feel ashamed for. DEVEQUT does not, at any moment, fall apart.
DEVEQUT is out November 17th as a digital release. Listen // buy via our bandcamp. Soon on all streaming platforms.
