Dear all,

I was wondering if anyone has any references or comments on the use
of alcohol as an entheogen. I seem to remember hearing about shamans
somewhere in asia doing just this. Also probably some saints, mystics etc
in western tradition qualify. Also someone at wikipedia (where
the topic is being discussed: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Entheogen )
suggested that the practice of getting extremely drunk in the Jewish
Purim holiday could be considered an entheogenic use . Would love to
hear any more info anyone has.
