In the first six months of 2015, 137,000 people, mostly refugees fleeing war, arrived in Europe by sea. They took unsafe boats and dinghies in an attempt to reach safety.
Looking at the increasing numbers arriving on the shores of Europe, it can easily be forgotten that 86% of the world’s refugees are hosted in developing countries.
