"A new study of 131,000 volunteers in France has revealed that drinking tea can significantly reduce a person’s risk of dying from a non-cardiovascular cause. A non-cardiovascular cause of death can be anything that doesn't have to do with the heart, such as a heart attack, high blood pressure, heart failure, angina, palpitations, or deep vein thrombosis. "Tea drinking lowered the risk of non-CV death by 24% and the trend towards lowering CV mortality was nearly significant,” Danchin said in the press release. "When we extended our analysis to 2011 we found that tea continued to reduce overall mortality during the six-year period. Interestingly, most of the effect of tea on non-CV mortality was found in current or ex-smokers, while tea had a neutral effect in non-smokers."
