Derbyshire sisters Rose and Daisy picked as embryos to beat killer disease TWO young sisters were “picked” in a laboratory to beat a killer disease that runs in their family. Three-year-old Rose Mulchinock and baby Daisy, five months, were born from embryos screened by fertility doctors to ensure they would not suffer from Huntington’s Disease. Their mum, Karen, 35, carries the defective gene for the condition. It killed her father on New Year’s Eve in 2012 and she knew there was a 50% chance of passing it on to her children.
