As one of the godfathers of the Detroit Techno sound, Carl Craig is perhaps
the most universally respected producer, dj and live artist. Of the Detroit
pioneers he is arguably the only one to continue to innovate and
experiment. For instance, his already history making avantgarde live band
Innerzone Orchestra proved at Europe’s most renowned dance and
jazz-festivals that techno and jazz can blend into an appealing synthesis
that satisfies the purists of both scenes.

CC’s releases are usually hidden on rare Detroit labels like Transmat,
Fragile, Retroactive and of course his own Planet E. His credits include a
flurry of different pseudonyms (Paperclip People, Psyche and 69 among them)
and a long list of groundbreaking releases, including "Bug in the
Bassbin", "Throw", "Crackdown", "4 Jazz Funk Classics" and "Jam the Box"
Craig has also been widely hailed as a remixer, reworking tracks for
everyone from house staples like Brian Transeau and Inner City to
international pop sensations like Yello, the Orb, and Tori Amos.

By being at the forefront of so many developments in modern dance music,
from his production work with Derrick May on ‘Strings of Life’ in 1989 to
his multifarious funk, techno soul and live music experiments with The
Innerzone Orchestra , Craig ‘the versatile one’ never fails to inspire
historical expectations. He continuously and successfully proves that being
focused to any one type of music at any time keeps one tunnelvisioned.

To put it simply, Craig is the best ambassador the global scene could ask
for.
