A fiber-optic network between Mongolia, China, Russia and the Mongolian Railway’s accession to the data transmission service through a cross-country fiber-optic network was launched on April 14. “…We have just built and are now exploiting a fiber-optic terrestrial network stretching for a thousand kilometers from Mongolia’s northern borders to the south, launched to bring railway technologies to a modern management and communication level in the 21st century - the telecommunications age - to upgrade and enhance its transmission capacity and to create a vivid and prospective business space along the railways. The network will not only allow its use for transportation technology but also makes a tangible contribution to establishing a fiber-optic network in the eastern regions of the country, to deliver new telecom and datacom services to rural communities and to create telecom service providers” said the Chairman of Mongolian railways R.Raash at the inauguration ceremony. The open digital transnational highway passes through Beijing, Ulaanbaatar and Moscow. This is an historical moment not only for the companies taking part in the project, but for the whole telecommunication world.
