"Giant African land snails can get pretty damn giant. They're native to Africa (obviously) and are routinely confiscated at airports as they are very popular as pets in the Western world.

The species isn't currently under threat of extinction, but they are considered an invasive species so imports are tightly regulated. There is a population of these snails spreading in Coral Gables, Florida."
