He is an excellent ambassador who, with only a pair of turntables, proclaims the message of this North American label far and wide. Fast rhythms, neo-hardcore and avant-breaks carefully wrapped in pieces of political rage. Danceable noise, distortion on the dancefloor.

Heather Leitner started out in music playing alongside big time names of dance experimentation such as Hrvatski, I-Sound, DJ Scud, Noizecreator and, of course, Criterion, the man she decided to lay the first stone of Broklyn Records with half a decade ago. It is probably because of this that her proposal, an array of lo-fi breaks and spurges of electronic fury, made a lightning impact on the international scene with releases such as "Mattress of the Universe".

Legend has it that Carsten Aermes gave birth to his techno-dub experimentation cell under candlelight on his aunt's farm, lost in some far away corner in East Germany. Like many others, the fall of the wall opened the doors for him to Berlin and new horizons. So much so that his first works were released on the other side of the Atlantic, on the Californian label Cytrax. The warmth and pristine dirtiness of his productions have helped to team him up with T. R Raumschmiere and Co, alongside whom he is defining the personal sound of Shitkatapult.

Winning over the prophets of underground hip-hop (from Jay Dee to Jurassic 5) and gaining the respect and applause of specialised critics (from Urb to The Wire), is no easy feat. However, Tadd Mullinix, the human being hidden behind the mysterious pseudonym, did just that without very much effort. Complex musical patterns and baselines that put to the test even the most resilient sound systems. These are the basic ingredients of a simple yet effective recipe both cutting edge and refreshing.
