As of 2011, imperial units are still used to describe, amongst other things; body measurements, journey distances and vehicle speeds, and liquid measures. At school, pupils are taught metric units in subjects, and in mathematics they are also taught "rough metric equivalents of imperial units still in daily use", and conversion between metric and imperial as a mathematical exercise. Metrication has been opposed and even resisted by some members of the British public.
