And probably the last confirmed presentation (we are full!) from Michael Bauer at the Progressbar Opening Party on Saturday (19.2.2011) at 16:00:
Michael Bauer - On the route to free infrastructure - FunkFeuer Vienna
FunkFeuer networks are free infrastructure IP-networks in Austria. They
rely heavily on wireless lan and dynamic routing. In this talk I will
shortly touch upon the history of FunkFeuer in Austria, specifically
Vienna; elaborate a bit on fundamental rules and technologies; and finally
proceed to my vision of free infrastructure.
About me: I'm a geek of medical sciences (so far) grown to love mingling
with technology. Having free systems for me is vital to satisfy my thirst
for knowledge. Along my way I was a founding member of the Chaos Computer
Club Erfa in vienna which pretty much dissolved into the Metalab. In 2003
me and some friends collaborated with quintessenz (the austrian digital
civil liberties defense squat) to create a free and anonymous access point.
This got us attention from other places and we were offered to take over a
formerly provider run W-LAN network. We knew what to do.
