Kindle Software Update Version 3.1 Early Preview Release

Those people will be happy to know that the next Kindle software update will include what Amazon is calling Real Page Numbers. In a blog post, Amazon says that the page numbers will match the book’s print edition (which one?), so that they’ll be usable for citations and reference. Sigh, whatever. It’s a backwards thing to do, but I guess I’ll be the one acting like a donkey now if I start complaining about it. Hugs!
Other upcoming features:
Public Notes – Like public highlights, only notes. I personally can’t wait to share the funny and sarcastic things I add to self-help titles in particular.
Before You Go – An end-of-the-book feature that will let you immediately rate the book or post an update to Facebook or Twitter.
New Layouts for Newspapers and Magazines – Amazon says the new layout will make it easier to browse sections and jump to articles.
