Benga_Phaze One


Benga returns in fighting form for Tempa with the first of a new doublepack series. 'Phaze One' contains six tracks (eight for the digital) designed for peak-time deployment, leaving any jazz-noodling for the album and depositing some heavy riches for the floor. The scorching 'Baltimore Clap' is kinda self-explanatory, riding pitbull claps and subbass swoops like a mutant B-More ballroom b*tch come to fuck up south London while 'Eyetunes' is a more regular skanking rave tune with heavy production values. 'Mini Moto Cross' gives a revved up thrill with charging synthline and forward lurching percussion before '808' again runs the NYC ballroom vibe with skull puncturing claps, cunty yelps and insistently repetitive stabs. Digital types also get the bonus of 'Transform', which sounds like a cyborg escapologist attempting to undo a straightjacket and 'No Bra, No Panties' which funnily enough plays like a track from Satan's Tornade on our promo copy. We can safely say Benga is in heavy form meaning longtime fans won't be disappointed!
