Fantastic Mr Fox returns to Black Acre with a smart EP of Electro-shocked garagetechno backed with an ace SBTRTK remix. Title tune 'Sketches' makes its case with brittle garage syncopations harnessing a squealing lead synthline and hum-a-long bassline, which in the hands of SBTRKT becomes a real killer, dropping the tempo to 130 bpm and jacking forward 4/4's while rendering the internal garage rhythms as whirring, spitting mechanics while that synthline stuns all in sight. On 'If I' Mr Fox runs with 4/4 garage syncopations and diced Todd Edwards style vox sounding like Blue Daisy jacking with Illum Sphere, while 'Bricka-Brac' sounds like a more tronic version of Joy Orbison. Together with the lush artwork from Berlin Twra, this is heavy pick for all the future garage pickers.
