while it may look like any ordinary men’s necktie, the sonic fabric neckties by alyce santoro are actually made using cassette tapes. the ties are woven from 50% recorded cassette tape and 50% coloured thread. while the definitely make a fashion statement, the ties can even be played using the tape head on an old walkman (demonstrated in the video below). the tape has been recorded with santoro layered and looped samples collected on and under the streets of new york. the tie comes in three colourways.
