prvych 1.5 minuty je dost nuda, ale potom je to fajnove hovori o tom, ako je veda zaujima, a ako je pre deti prirodzena zvedavost, a dalej nejake uryvky: i was talking to the first grade class, perhaps i shot a little too high, i asked them the question of string theory :)... no, i asked them, how do you do 3 into 6.. few hands shot up, i picked one kid, she went to the board, draw a biiig 6 and put a 3 into it.. it wasnt the answer i was expecting, but it was 3 into 6, and it just showed she didnt care about being right or wrong, she just wanted to give it a shot!" ... a second grade class, the kids are all drawing pictures, the teacher goes over to one and says: "what are you drawing?" and the girl says: "i'm drawing the face of god" teachers says: "how do you know, how do you do that, no one knows how the god looks like" and she says: "in a minute they will".. ..this is how we begin life, but so quickly many of us lose that unabashed uninhibited desire to explore, we become afraid of being wrong, we become intimidated by math and science, even worse, we began to think of science as boring.. ... but when we teach the science to kids, we are so quickly focused upon the details, we worry about solving equation, balancing this reaction... and when you dont a focus of taking students out beyond the stars, science becomes lifeless. but if science is communicated by showing the big ideas, if the science is communicated by showing the exhilaration of discovery, if the science is communicated by showing the critical problems, from climate change, to the opportunity of stem cells, to the possibility of nano technology! WOW! it comes to life! [velka vdaka id kamYL!] |
