last month, spanish designer luis eslava, directed a design workshop organized by asociaciónproyecta and sponsored by ecolinea (who is engaged in both socially and environmentally sustainable products). the program addressed notions of 'saving' which encompasses many aspects of our everyday life, from what we purchase, our consumption of water, light etc. - the overall idea of the workshop was to develop products where 'saving' was main component to the overall philosophy of a design. the goal was to work with companies that used recycled materials to develop new products for the home and everyday use. the result was a range of objects that could be proposed to ecolinea, that utilized recycled canvas from advertising campaigns. here are some of the designs that were conceived. ![]() 'paperboat' by alberto arza & aymará aravena image courtesy of luis eslava returning to our childhood, playing in the water again like when we were kids. the rubber duck has been converted into a 'paperboat'. a design which involves the use of origami with fabric, which behaves as a tub stopper. ![]() via designboom |
