"It all began with a magnetic joint which I accidentally found at a small producer for magnets." X Y and Z by Daniel Lorch is a series of inspired lamps; a magnetic joint, a text about minimalist artist John McCracken and crushed metal in a workshop all fed the process. McCracken's art is about the effect of consciously breaking with proportions and the pinched metal lampshades is something that first emerged in his workshop. "The green finish is a hammered-metal look - we know it from the many tools in the workshop - it's an homage to the tools and machines which took part in building the lamps."
