stile bertone unveiled the mantide supercar designed by jason castriota yesterday at the 2009 shanghai auto show. the new car is based off the chevrolet corvette ZR1 platform with a newly designed body. american designer jason castriota who is known in car-design circles for the pininfarina p4/5, led the car’s design team. the new mantide is fast and light, featuring aerodynamic aids similar to f1 cars and a new body made completely from carbon fibre and magnesium. the car is said to be able to go from 0-60mph in 3.5 seconds with a top speed exceeding 200 mph. the design process was chronicled from the beginning as ‘project m’ and more photos and videos can be seen on the website.
