Liverpool Star Steven Gerrard Warns England Of Slovakian Martin Skrtel



Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard has mentioned to his fellow English internationals that they will have to put in a good shift to get the better of his Reds team-mate and Slovakian defender Martin Skrtel.

England welcome Slovakia to Wembley on Saturday for a friendly match before the teams' respective World Cup qualifiers, a game that sees 'Captain Fantastic' go head-to-head with his fellow Red.

"It will be a good tie. Martin is a fantastic player who is getting better all the time," admitted Gerrard at a press conference.

"I am sure he will be a world class player in the future.

"If his team-mates are as good as him we're in for a really tough game."

Stevie G also revealed that he had joked with Skrtel ahead of the clash that sees the Liverpool skipper earn his 71st cap.

"He is really tough and vocal on the pitch but he's quiet off it. We've had a bit of banter, though," Gerrard added.

"We're looking forward to testing ourselves against them."
