UK artist lauren porter gained notoriety with her 2006 sculpture ‘twelve miles of yarn’, which was a full-scale ferrari, made from knit yarn. the project was a success and led to her traveling across canada to examine native craft techniques. when she returned to the UK, porter began a new series entitled ‘hunting trophy’. these new works are executed in white textiles and lace depicting horns, heads and other hunting trophies. the calm and serene pieces are a big contrast from the gruesome and barbaric nature of the real trophies.
