A golden bowl covers the face of a 1,500-year-old mummy recently discovered in a pyramid in Peru. The mummy, of a woman believed to have died in her 20s, is remarkably preserved, and the body is ornately tattooed on the arms, legs, and feet.



Originally wrapped in an enormous mummy bundle, the young woman was found with ceremonial war clubs and 23 spear throwers, leading archaeologists to wonder if she could be the first known female ruler from the Moche culture.
