The actual night that the Qur'an was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in the Cave of Hira by Allah through the angel Gabriel is called Lailat ul Qadr, and to stand in prayer on this one night is said to be better than a thousand months of worship.

Lailat al Qadr (27 Ramadan) - Night of Power

Lailat al Qadr, the Night of Power, marks the night in which the Qur'an was first revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) by Allah.
Muslims regard this as the most important event in history, and the Qur'an says that this night is better than a thousand months (97:3), and that on this night the angels descend to earth. This is a time that Muslims spend in study and prayer. Some will spend the whole night in prayer or in reciting the Qur'an.
Lailat al Qadr is a good time to ask for forgiveness. Allah's Apostle said:

Whoever establishes the prayers on the night of Qadr out of sincere faith and hoping to attain Allah's rewards (not to show off) then all his past sins will be forgiven.

The date of 27 Ramadan for this day is a traditional date, as the Prophet Muhammad(pbuh) did not mention when the Night of Power would be, although it was suggested it was in the last 10 days of the month.

Because of this, many Muslims will treat the last 10 days of the month of Ramadan as a particularly good time for prayer and reading the Qur'an.

Surah 97:1-5 Al-Qadr (Night of Power)

1. We have indeed revealed this (Message) in the Night of Power:
2. And what will explain to thee what the night of power is?
3. The Night of Power is better than a thousand months.
4. Therein come down the angels and the Spirit by Allah's permission, on every errand:
5. Peace!...This until the rise of morn!

Assalamu-Alaikum

We hope you are well and bursting with imaan during this blessed month of Ramadhaan. You may well be aware that we are now in the last 10 days of Ramadhaan, the most blessed of days as within it lies the Night of Decree, or Laylatul Qadr. It is the night is which the Qur'an was revealed, and holds such value that Allah has said in Surah Al-Qadr, 'The night of Al-Qadr is better than a thousand months'.

So this one night, if we seek it, its benefits, have our prayers of forgiveness accepted by Allah, then the rewards are so great it is greater than worshipping for over 83 years and 4 months!! Can we really afford to miss out on this? Of course not!! Think about it using an anology. If our employers were to ring us up and say that they would pay us the equivalent of 83 years and 4 months worth of salary for one night, which one of us would stay at home? Fit or healthy, broken legged or wheelchair bound; no matter what problem we may have, somehow we would find a way into work for that salary! And insha'Allah this is how we should treat Laylatul Qadr.

It is recommended to make extensive supplication on the last 10 days. `A'ishah (radhiallahu `anha) reported that she asked Allah's Messenger (sallallahu `alayhi wa sallam), "O Messenger of Allah! If I knew which night is Laylat ul-Qadr, what should I say during it?" And he instructed her to say:

"Allahumma innaka `afuwwun tuhibbul `afwa fa`fu `annee - O Allah! You are forgiving, and you love forgiveness. So forgive me." [Recorded by Ahmad, Ibn Majah, and at-Tirmithi.]

From various ahadith it can be found that Laylatul Qadr falls within the odd night of the last ten days, and so the night of the 21st, 23rd, 25th, 27th and 29th fast. Remember in the Islamic calender, one day is from one Maghrib to the next. Therefore, once we break fast for say the 20th day, after maghrib it is now the night if the 21st, so make sure you get the dates right! We have incuded below a fantastic explaination of Laylatul Qadr below, taken from the Q&A section of www.sunnipath.com. Do give it and read as it will gives us a better understanding of this night. No special form of worship has been pescribed, but we should spend it performing dhikr, tahajjud and Qur'an recitation. Most imporatntly, lots and lots of dua! One can never make enough dua, so please do as much as you can in the few remainding days of this blessed month we have left. Other good deeds such as giving to charity are also highly encouraged, in fact Rasulullah, (sallallahu alahi was-sallam) advised us to increase in our generosity. One such project concentrating on orphans can be found here: http://www.justgiving.com/frsylhetorphanage, or see http://www.new.facebook.com/event.php?eid=24972863330. Ummah Welfare Trust (www.uwt.org) are a fantastic charity to use as they give 100% of all donations to the cause concerned, with nothing going towards admin charges.

For many of us it is difficult to remain awake the enitire night due to work or univeristy the next day, but insha'Allah we can try to spend some of it in ibadah (worship). At least 8 rakat of tahajjud insha'Allah (nafl-optional prayers which are performed in units of 2 rakat), trying to recite a number of surahs in each rakat and remaining in the bowing poistions for longer. Any dhikr or tasbeeh can be recited, with or without wadhu, even laying in bed! There is also a special salah called Salat-ul-tasbeeh, which is for forgiveness of our sins, past and present. Details of this and how to perform it are also given below.

On that note, keep us in your duas as well. May Allah forgive us all, and make us those whom He favours into the Jannah. Ameen

Či by vari hriešnik, zvedený satanom, prepadnúc túžbe
chytračíš, a nechceš zbytočne investovať ?

To najlepšie, čo môžeš urobiť, ak už nevládzeš

a nech mne, nehodnému, odpustí tieto príkre
a vypínavé slová, ktorým by sa mal každý,
a to najmä počas pôstneho mesiaca, radšej vyhýbať.
moja nezištná obava o Tvoje šťastie, a nie moja pýcha.
nájsť odpustenie u Boha, Jediného a Jedinečného,
v čo veríme a dúfame, lebo vieme,
