Téměř přesně po roce se vrací Diane Cluck, nejen pro nás jedna z nejzásadnějších písničkářek současnosti. Její domácky pojaté nahrávky kulminovaly asi nejpovedenějším albem Oh Vanille/Ova Nil, znovuvydaném labelem Important Records roku 2005, které opakovaně potvrzuje svůj název jako fakt. Po dlouhých sedmi letech se loni připomenula s ep Boneset u stejného vydavatelství a navazujícím turné, v rámci něhož vystoupila i v Potrvá spolu s cellistkou Isabel Castellvi.

Zpěv, který magnetizuje svou nenucenou hravostí, lehkostí a čistotou, byl dřív obvykle doprovázený skrytě pulzující kytarou, která by sama o sobě normálně utrhla větší kus vaší pozornosti nebýt pravě fascinujícího vokálu. S novou deskou se projev Diane na první poslech zdánlivě jeví civilnější, ale melodická uměřenost (ať už vokální nebo instrumentální) dává v její hudbě průchod neokázalé eleganci a síle samotných skladeb. Pro letošní sólové turné byl avizovaný záměr experimentovat víc i s jinými objekty než jen kytarou.

V době boomu nezávislých písničkářů na přelomu milénia byla Diane nepochopitelně spíš ta nepovšimnutá v pozadí, přestože se o ní její mnohem slavnější kolegové vždy vyjadřovali téměř s až posvátnou úctou a především přestože patřila mezi ty nejoriginálnější a s nejsilnější výpovědí. Pro Devendru Banharta, který ji zařadil i na svou kompilaci Golden Apples Of The Sun, byla „nejlepší písničkářkou v celém New Yorku“ a „byl šťastný, že žije ve stejné době, jelikož jí může vidět hrát živě“. Biancu Casady z CocoRosie, jejíž vydavatelství Voodoo Eros zase vydalo Dianino album Countless Times, její zpěv „dostává do země nekonečných možností“, „má z něj husí kůži, rozbourá a rozpláče ji“. Antony Hegarty vnímá Dianu jako „virtuózní talent s naprosto podmanivým zvládnutím svého hlasu jako extatického nástroje“. Tak by se dalo pokračovat ještě chvíli.

Původně ohlášený houslista Daniel Meier v roli hosta nakonec kvůli vážným problémům nevystoupí. Místo něj bude ovšem hodně zajímavé trio Gustav Tutre & Katka Zochová & Euchrid Escrow, kteří se v této sestavě objevili před mnoha lety na bratislavském Next festivalu. Indície napovídají kytaru, harfu a digitální postprocessing.

Avant-dreampop, alternative folk a psychedelica v komornom prostredí kaviarne/galérie Gramec na Židovskej. V stredu 5. novembra tam zahrá dánsky projekt Own Road.



Melodická krása, veselosť a hravosť, ale aj smútok či úzkosť, to všetko je počuť v skladbách dánskeho one-man-projektu Own Road. Hudobne sa pohybuje niekde medzi alternatívnym folkom pripomínajúcim Ameriku, avant-dreampopom a psychedelicou. Own Road aka Simon Skjødt Jensen vo svojej tvorbe veľmi rád používa rôzne nástroje od “obyčajnej” gitary, cez ukulele a banjo po exotickejšie nástroje a efekty, ktoré kombinuje s loopovanými vokálmi.

Možno si ešte spomínate na koncert Mute Swimmera v Oblude. Ak sa vám vtedy páčilo, je veľká pravdepodobnosť, že sa tak stane aj tentokrát. Aj keď sme o tom vopred ani netušili, Own Road a Mute Swimmer minulý rok dokonca spolupracovali na spoločnom albume Old Tricks.

So I decided to stay in my small, cold flat in Manchester, where I have a little piano. It’s not a posh piano but it is unique and precious. Hung on the wall above my piano are my guitars, and strewn around the room are a load of other instruments and amps.
I was in here, on my own. No money to do anything and no reason to be anywhere. Staying awake throughout the night, with my headphones on, I created Dancing.
As I captured the sound of my instruments, I also became transfixed by vocal harmonies. I used my voice as a synthesizer, laying down layer upon layer of vocals. I didn’t mean to make an entire record, but I did. (nancy)
