This was an awsome thurnderstorm in the City of Asheboro, NC. I am fascinated by lightning. Its a force of Nature that kills more people each year than Hurrincanes and Tornados. Most lightning strikes average 2 to 3 miles long and carry a current of 10000 Amps at 100 million Volts. Lightning reaches 50,000 degrees Fahrenheit, 4x times as hot as the sun's surface. Around the earth there are 100 lightning strikes per second, or 8,640,00 times a day. I shot this strike from my roof.

This shot was of the jetty over looking the coast at Paradise Cove resort in Mauritis .
It was almost completly dark when i took this shot was a few mins exposure .
had to stand to the side of the camera to stop the wind from shaking the tripod and duck in for cover between showers of rain .
