It'll be some time yet before beatmakers can make any sort of off-kilter hip-hop instrumentals without comparison to the late J Dilla, but you rarely find one good enough to have been made by him. White, a UK TV library composer, drops crisp drums and ice-cold synths like they're hot and scores a moody winner.

Like Clark Kent or Bruce Wayne, Paul White might seem like an ordinary mortal. Put him behind a sampler and a mixing desk however and suddenly he becomes become Paul White: Beatmaker - bastard superhero offspring of Premier, Madlib and Dilla! Having already penned remixes for the likes of Frank ‘n’ Dank and Democustico here he makes good his first proper release and what a belter it is! Off kilter, cinematic beats with a heavy hip hop twist.
