Kinetic light artist Paul Friedlander's installation Timeless Universe is concerned with cosmology. His approach is through written records, varying from ancient scripts to signs, codes and mathematical formula. He takes these images full of mystery and fuses them using his own computer codes. The result is an generative kinetic work that never repeats, refreshing itself daily with a new variants and themes programmed into it.

Electric Sheep is a free, open source screen saver run by thousands of people all over the world. It can be installed on any ordinary PC or Mac. When these computers "sleep", the screen saver comes on and the computers communicate with each other by the internet to share the work of creating morphing abstract animations known as "sheep". The result is a collective "android dream", an homage to Philip K. Dick's novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep.

Fractal artist Juan Lewis started Fractovia as a two-page website under the name of Fractal Division back in the summer of 1998. Over the last several years, it's expanded to contain over 600 pages, most of which were adorned with pictures depicting fractal representations. For fractal generators there are applications listed on his site available free of charge from their respective home pages (Mind-Boggling Fractals and Ultra Fractal, being shareware, are the only exceptions; look for these at the end of the Generators list [page 10]). In no case they are public domain, unless if stated explicitly as such by their author(s), who, in any case, retain all rights over their products. They are also free of spyware. fractovia
