nechcelo sa mi prekladat co som pisal inde ale snad rozumiete :

I need a sound advice about the GIS software analytical capabilities..
I've heard GRASS/QGIS is better for analyses while ArcGIS for common
GIS functions.. Is it right ?

I'm doing a Master Thesis project - GIS of whole southwest Slovakia
(but possibly even greater region in future - project is projected for
several years).. Localities will be divided according to accuracy (GPS
or other), function (cemetery etc.), period (Roman, German etc.) and
so on.. I'm in a phase of gathering data so analyses will not be
possible until data are ready.. But analyses will be my primary aim in
my Diploma thesis so I need to know now what software I should use..
Beside this fact, I'm not sure if I should use SQL database
(Postgresql - GRASS ?) or file database from ESRI package.. My
experiences are great with SQL databases of any kind and so I would
like to use it if possible but it's not so simple decision as it
seems..

Now I'd really need your advice from your experience..

dik za help..

zalezi ake analyzy budes robit. ak viac rastrove tak by ti mohol grass s postgisom a postgresql stacit. ja by som to robil radsej v ArcGISe, si na skole a mozes mat nejaku akademicku licenciu. menej sa s tym vytrapis a budes to mat stabilnejsie.
