OPOS was established in 1990 by Alberto Zanone, and since the very beginning it has been dealing with the scouting of young designers.

From 1991 until 2001 OPOS has been organizing the UNDER 35 contest, which generated new ideas that often managed to find valid commercial applications.

A number of prominent people from various sectors, ranging fron design to architecture, to publishing and communication, contribute to OPOS.

Thanks to its selected network of designers and to the availability of a many projects and prototypes, OPOS recently started organizing contests and exhibitions in cooperation with cultural institutions and companies.

ACQUA/WATER
Water a resource that is thought to be an inexhaustible, inexpensive, and acquired right. In reality, more than 4 billion people in the world don’t have access to running water: a fact that makes one reflect. In the future even the industrialized societies will find themselves having to resolve the management of water resources due the climatic changes and lack of attention to the natural patrimony. The existence of water on earth and in man is a fundamental part of every living function. A symbolic tie, the dependency of every life form on water, has made us think that design can contribute, if not to the total resolution of the problem, at least toa greater awareness of a precious resource.

PANCHINA/BENCH
The bench is a symbol of uniting, a meeting place and social encounter, a point of redemption from urban madness. The city is not only an inhuman metropolis, but it is a liveable space, with a chance for exchange and emotions. This is the theme of the exhibition featured in 2002 by Opos, along with the Under 35 presentation during the Salone del Mobile.

RRR
Bidoni (Bins) - reuse, recycle, rethink.
Organized together with EOS Environmental Consulting Group, the exhibition focuses attention on the problems of waste material via projects of design. Music, graphics, comic strips and prototypes come together to redefine the four keywords of the title.

OPOS
