From: Paul-Robin To: englandcaravan@yahoogroups.com Sent: Thursday, July 13, 2006 2:08 AM Subject: [englandcaravan] The rainbow site - an apology The rainbow site is on a 1000 acre sheep farm near grassington, skipton, yorkshire. There is no forest and we are paying one pound per head compensation for the privilidge to camp on the land for a month which is a pretty good deal really. There is a bore hole with fresh water for drinking. The site is on private land so we need to respect the landowners wishes. There is a lack of wood but i am sure it will b brought in as needed. Im really sorry my brothers and sisters... we wanted a better site to offer you ... but our scouts were not able to find one.. im really really sorry.in the end everyone gave up and took the site which gave us freedom from our fears...nobody had the guts to make a stand against the status quo...and the those at the circle were obviously afraid of rocking the boat. the problem in england is we are still living in the feudal ages where lords and princes and dukes and the rich own about 80 % of the land and the majority of the population - around 80 % own less than 20 % of the land. Its a shame... but there it is. we are a nation dispossessed... homeless.and as the england focaliser... i want to personally apologise to you all... we tried.. Nothing short of a revolution in this country will chnage much of the status quo. Im sorry we could not offer you a better place ... the wall was too high as you can see... no matter how he tried he could not break free... im sure syd barrett would have understood. much love and regrets...
