![]() As for scarification, I've got a bear and a bear paw on my upper right thigh. It has faded a lot and looks more like a terrible accident than scarification these days - I plan on getting it redone or covered up at some point. I've also got a do-it-yourself scarification project on my right calf. It'll just be two straight stripes. If any part of body modification seems to truly divide opinions it's probably scarification. Very few people seem to appreciate it in any sense, and it is often viewed as mutilating the body simply because the procedure must hurt and because scars are often viewed as undesirable in our western culture. I personally find scars extremely fascinating and beautiful. In a way they're one of the most natural manners of modifying your body, as unlike with piercings or tattoos no foreign object is left inside the body but the scar is produced by the body itself. |
