Let me tell you few things about Greece, since I am Greek, living in Cyprus.
Greece is indeed one of the best destinations for holidays in Europe. Especially this period, the Greek islands are beautiful, very sunny and with the best beaches...there is nothing better, after swimming, to sit in one of the traditional taverns on the beach and enjoy your food and ouzo (traditional greek alcoholic drink), and watching the view of the aegean sea.
Also Athens is very nice, especially now after the olympic games. The transportation system is one of the best in Europe, there are a lot of worknig places, and they do speak english there, eventhough French and German are more popular. Athens combines the modern bussines site, and the old part with a lot of archeological monuments, e.g. parthenon and acropolis.Try the area of Plaka, with a lot of traditional taverns, with greek food and drinks. Buzukia(traditional greek musical instrument) is another place you must visit. There is live music and dance until the early morning. there is nothing better than greek fun!
Thessaloniki which located in the north of Greece is beautiful. Is more quiet than Athens, and the city center is located next to the seaside! So you can enjoy your frappe (traditional greek and Cypriot coffee) and at the same time watching the view....
