This is just a review of my iriver h10 and a comparison to other DAPS. I work at Dixons (electrical store) so I pretty much know a lot about the units and reliabilty so read on.....

The iriver h10 is great. Its 5gb, colour screen, fm radio, voice recorder, fm recorder, portable storage, and is driverless for windows xp, which is very handy. In the last year ive owned the philips hdd/100, apple mini ipod 1st gen, creative micro zen and now the iriver h10. My philips DAP was freezing after 2 days and the back scracthed VERY easily. Excellent voice recorder though! the best ive ever used. The iPod was great but the lack of a radio and voice recorder let it down. Eventually after 5 months of service its battery fell from 8 hours to 2. The zen micro was a waste of time as 2 hours was the most I got after a full charge. the touch pad was also way too sensitive for my liking. This brings me to the iriver h10.

The first day it arrived in the shop where I work I admired it as it is a fine looking thing. I asked my manager could i test it for a day before I bought it and he obliged. I wasnt going to risk buying another crap DAP! But the iRiver did everything i wanted. the philips voice recorder is better as I use it to record my drumming, but it is still good on the iRiver. The kit that comes standardis also very generous. sennheiser headphones, charger(unlike the 2nd gen mini iPods!) rubberised case(€40 for ipods!), and the general functions are plentiful. The ability to replace the battery is also very good.the iriver plus software is EXCELLENT! much better than windows media player. The volume is fairly loud too as I was dissapointed with the volume on the iPod and the olympus m:robe which I've tested in work.. overall it is the best machine in my opinion.
