Happily, we're retiring them with grace and dignity, as both Denham Audio and Steven Weston manage to bring new energy to the track, from very different angles, aimed at very different dancefloors.

To mark this final goodbye : a little trip back to the beginning ( taken from the soon - live bandcamp page - other hoary tales of old may be involved).

" We'd first heard Cafe' Del Mar via it's Eye Q release in 1993. Along with Vernon's Wonderland, Cosmic Baby, Visions of Shiva, Jam + Spoon, Fax Records etc, this was the kind of early German trance we were listening to after clubs at the time, not really dancing to, in them.

Much of it was too fast for the post Balearic / original progressive clubs, too melodic / pretty for Trade, and we never really found our spot at Club UK ( South of the River) , which was LDN's natural home for this stuff at the time.

But things moved on. By the end of 95', we'd burned ourselves out of Trade, and after more than a decade, our frontline clubbing days were starting to taper off. At the same time, the banging, harder ( + hardbaggy : ( ) stuff was starting to wear v thin for us. Licensing Cafe' Del Mar to the label made sense, and seemed to happen quickly.

We then spent approx 18 months getting it remixed. Can’t recall everyone who tried and failed, repeatedly, but can remember the basic problem : the scale of the build up and main chord progressions were such, no one could get it to ' kick back in' with any impact; the mixes just seemed to drift around, subsumed by the melodies.

And then one Friday in early 97', we'd come back home from something at the Gallery / Turnmills ( we hadn't stopped going out completely, it was just the 48 hr : Trade > Full Circle > FF type weekends of doom that we'd curtailed...ish ) with a cassette of the Three in One remix of CDM.

For whatever reason, Sharam Jey, who'd released 'Reflect' on Westbam's Low Spirit label the year before ( as Three in One - we shared office space with Westbam's UK based management ) had been there, and was keen to give us the remix he'd done (at our request).

Sat at home in Kentish Town, early morning light outside, sleep nowhere on the agenda, with Sharam's remix playing for the first time, on a decent system.....one of those moments you don't forget in a hurry...first listen, and we kinda knew....

Further listens were had that early morning. It was a good time.

19tka sa nesie vo zvuku eurodancových kapiel ako La Bouche, Culture Beat, no už to nieje taký ten číry eurodance, ale je tam počuť aj štipku trancu, keďže väčšinou ide o rôzne remixy originálnych skladieb. Ďalej sa v tomto mixe nachádza veľa skladieb, na ktoré mám z minulosti pekné spomienky, špeciálne by som upozornil na štvorku, čo je Culture Beat v remixe Superstring, kde je ten progresívnejší zvuk tanečnej hudby 90tých rokov počuť naplno a je to skutočný masterpiece.

Moje mixy série Save the rave sú často tématicky zamerané na rôzné žánre a subžánre tanečnej a elektronickej hudby 90tých rokov. Tento krát som si na mušku vzal letné hity a priznám sa, toto bola celkom výzva, dať niečo zmysluplné dokopy v týchto vodách.. Či už ste ich milovali alebo nenávideli a pri počúvaní rôznych výberoviek ich rovno prepínali, boli významnou súčasťou muziky 90tých rokov. Čo by to bola za kapela, keby vo svojom repertoári nemala nejaký ten letný kaleráb, aj napriek tomu, že jej primárny zvuk bol o inej odnoži tanečnej hudby. Ale fungovalo to aj naopak, kapely so zameraním sa na takéto letné, plážové hity občas vybočili od svojho zaužívaného zvuku a vydali skladbu s iným zvukom, či už si to žiadalo publikum, vydavateľstvo alebo to bol krok samotnej kapely. V tomto mixe je aj slovenské zastúpenie eurodance scény, a to v celkom hojnom počte - skupiny ako D-Night, Exil, Bee M, Extasy kvalitou skladieb za svetovými interpretmi vôbec nezaostávali. Takže vytiahnite plavky, slnečník, lehátko, namiešajte drinky a užite si leto a tento mix ;)

Def Dames Dope (DDD) was a girl group from Belgium during the 1990s, most successful from 1993 to 1996. They released one more single in 2002.

The group was initially made up of the two sisters Larissa and Axana Ceulemans together with Yousra Lemaire (nicknamed TRS). Larissa married Berre Bergen (who played bass guitar with the Belgian band De Kreuners), and left the group. Ingrid Gerits (nicknamed H2O) and Edith Verlinden (nicknamed Tabasco) joined Def Dames Dope. Axana (nicknamed Snake) composed many of the lyrics and music, and the group was a project of techno producers Phil Wilde and Jean-Paul De Coster (better known for his project 2 Unlimited).
