Ateliér Multimedia FaVU VUT v Brně organizuje první ročník výstavy prezentující umělecká díla multimediálního charakteru ve veřejném prostoru města.

Z příspěvku programu Zelená energie společnosti ČEZ bylo ateliérem pořízeno několik solárních systému sloužících jako alternativní zdroje elektrické energie, které umožňují vytvářet umělecké prezentace multimediálního charakteru
nezávislé na pevné el. rozvodní síti (např. v parcích). Výstava se uskuteční v letních měsících roku 2010. Na této výstave budou nejširší veřejnosti předvedena umělecká díla jako multimediální, nebo interaktivní sochy, objekty, instalace a performance.

V současné době jsou soustřeďovány výstavní projekty. V březnu z nich vybere odborná porota pod záštitou Domu umění města Brna ty nejlepší a následně budou ve spolupráci s Fakultou elektrotechniky a komunikačních technologií VUT v Brně na workshopech upřesněna definitivní technická řešení tak, aby bylo možné jednotlivé realizace úspěšně dopracovat do konce května.

K dispozici budou solární systémy o výkonu od 10W do 260W s napětím 12V DC / 230V AC. Díla by mela být koncipována jako méně energeticky náročná a s ohledem na principiální funkčnost solárních panelu a baterií.

The planned Graduate School for the Arts and Sciences at the Berlin University of the Arts is a postgradual, transdisciplinary and international program. It is geared toward highly qualified graduates from all artistic and academic disciplines.

Prospective fellows propose an art, design or academic project which is firmly rooted in one discipline but requires or addresses the co-operation with other disciplines. Doctoral candidates whose dissertation requires direct exchange with the arts can also apply. After successful completion of the program fellows are awarded the certificate of the Graduate School for the Arts and Sciences.

Your application contains: CV; project proposal; copy of university diploma; agreement from a university professor, either within or without of the Berlin University of the Arts, to function as supervisor.

The Graduate School facilitates transdisciplinary exchange between the Graduate Schools fellows and offers mentoring by professors of fine arts, architecture, media, design, music and performing arts. The Graduate School provides individually designed curricula and the opportunity to teach at the Berlin University of the Arts.

Funding is usually granted for two years; it can be extended for a third year. Pre-requisite for application is a university degree to the equivalent of a MA or MFA in any artistic or academic discipline (a BA alone is not sufficient). Applications can be in German or English. The International M.A. in New Media & Digital Culture (NMMA) at the

classes are no larger than 20 and often smaller, and the faculty-to-
student ratio is 1:8.

Curriculum
1st Semester: students follow a course in academic blogging, led by
critical Internet theorist and tactical media practitioner Geert
Lovink. Their entries form the internationally noted Masters of Media
site, http://mastersofmedia.hum.uva.nl/, regarded as a top blog for
new media research and nominated for a Dutch blog award for best
education blog. The concurrent new media theories course focuses on
classic texts by innovators from Alvin Turing to Tim Berners-Lee. The
final first semester class, Digital Methods, given by the program
Chair, Richard Rogers, trains students in novel techniques for
Internet research, http://www.digitalmethods.net/. 2nd Semester: the
student chooses between courses on digital aesthetics, new media
politics or information visualization. The digital aesthetics course
is theoretically inclined in the traditions of art history and visual
culture, and the new media politics class is concerned with the
transformations the Internet is bringing to politics. Information
visualization is a joint theoretical-practical collaboration between
designers, programmers and analysts, where the product is an online
tool, digital visualization or interactive graphic. The course of
study concludes with the M.A. thesis, an original analysis that makes
a contribution to the field, undertaken with the close mentorship of a
faculty supervisor. The graduation ceremony includes an international
symposium with renowned speakers. Graduates of the NMMA have gained an
analytical and practical skill-set that enables diverse careers in
research and practice-related areas that make use of the Internet,
including business, government, NGOs, and creative industries that are
evolving with emerging new media. Our graduates include Lotte Meijer,
winner of a Webby award, and Eva Kol, whose MA thesis, Hyves, was
published by Kosmos in 2008 and sold over 5000 copies its first year
in print.

Student Life
The quality-of-living in Amsterdam ranks among the highest of
international capitals. UvA’s competitive tuition (see below) and the
ubiquity of spoken English both on and off-campus make the program
especially accommodating for foreign students. The city’s many venues,
festivals, and other events provide remarkably rich cultural offerings
and displays of technological innovation. The program has ties to
organizations including PICNIC, the Waag Society, Institute for
Network Cultures, Virtueel Platform, Netherlands Institute for Media
Art, govcom.org, and other cultural institutions, where internship
opportunities may be available, in consultation with the student’s
thesis supervisor. Students attend and blog, twitter or otherwise
capture local new media events and festivals, while commenting as well
on larger international issues and trends pertaining to new media. The
quality of student life is equally to be found in the university’s
lively and varied intellectual climate. NMMA students come from North
and South America, Africa, Asia and across Europe and from academic
and professional backgrounds including journalism, art and design,
engineering, the humanities and social sciences.

Filmový klub ve Veselí nad Moravou ve spolupráci se Slovenským filmovým ústavem v Bratislavě a AČFK pořádá ve dnech 13.-15.11.2009 již XVI. ročník Semináře ruských filmů, který bude v tomto roce zaměřen na reflexi přestavby. Program nabídne ještě "sovětské", ale už "přestavbové" filmy z mimořádně dynamických let 1988 a 1989, kdy se tvůrci v reflexích současného života vyrovnávali s absencí cenzury, jedni zkoušeli své síly v dříve nepěstovaných žánrech a druzí vstřebávali lekce postmodernismu. The Berlin School of Mind and Brain is an international research school, which was founded in 2006 as part of Germany's Excellence Initiative.
The School offers a unique three-year interdisciplinary doctoral program in English in the mind and brain sciences.

As part of the Berlin School of Mind and Brain's commitment to supporting women in science and the humanities, the School is delighted to announce a limited number of travel awards for female students who are interested in exploring the possibility of doctoral studies at the School.

Successful applicants will receive reimbursement for accommodation, travel costs, plus a per diem to cover living expenses during their visit. Candidates will be invited to visit the School during the week of the 7-12 December 2009, and will have ample opportunities to meet with faculty and students relevant to their research interests, as well as have a chance to view the School's facilities, and to get a better sense of city itself. In addition, they will be encouraged to participate in Berlin Brain Days (9-11 December 2009), an annual event that brings together more than 200 doctoral students from across the neurosciences to discuss and present their work with senior international faculty.

In order to be eligible for this award you need to meet the basic eligibility criteria for applying to the School's doctoral program in 2010 or 2011 (in particular you need to have completed or be in the process of completing a Master's or equivalent degree in an area of study relevant to the School). Research within the School focuses on the interface between the humanities and the neurosciences. Of particular interest are research areas that fall on the borders between the mind sciences (e.g., philosophy, linguistics, behavioral and cognitive science, economics), and the brain sciences (e.g., neurophysiology, computational neuroscience, neurology, and neurobiology). Major topics of research within the program include: 'conscious and unconscious perception', 'decision-making', 'language', 'brain plasticity and lifespan ontogeny', 'mental disorders and brain dysfunction', and the 'philosophy of mind'.
However, research is not limited to these areas, and students are strongly encouraged to develop and work at their own initiative on any projects that are relevant to interdisciplinary questions relating to mind and brain.

The School accepts eight-to-twelve doctoral candidates into its program each year. Here are some excellent reasons why students might wish to be considered for one of these highly sought after positions at the Berlin School of Mind and Brain:

* The School has a faculty comprised of 60 distinguished researchers, including four Max Planck directors, which cover the gamut of research within the mind and brain sciences.

* Research within the School is strongly embedded in the basic and clinical research conducted within the region allowing for strong synergistic research initiatives and opportunities. Hosted by the Humboldt University, the School's research program includes scientists from the Free University, the Technical University, the Bernstein Center for Computational Neuroscience, the Max Planck Institute for Human Development (Berlin), the Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences (Leipzig), and the nearby universities of Potsdam and Magdeburg.

* Students acquire a strong foundation for interdisciplinary work by attending eight one-week classes during the first half of their doctoral program, which cover all fields relevant for mind/brain-related research, and allow students to explore research methods and topics that they have not been previously exposed to. Each doctoral candidate is assigned two professorial advisors - one from the brain sciences, one from the mind sciences - in order to maximize the interdisciplinary impact of their work.

* Students meet with leading international researchers via the School's Distinguished Lecture Series, interactions with its senior visiting faculty, as well as by attending international workshops and meetings.
As part of the School's commitment to maximizing students' research opportunities, the School also encourages and provides assistance for students to spend time studying and conducting research abroad during the course of their doctoral candidacy.

* Extensive practical services to international doctoral candidates are available, including assistance with visa applications, matriculation, health insurance, local authorities, scientific soft skill courses, and language classes.

Finally, there are good financial reasons for studying at the Berlin School of Mind and Brain:

* There are no tuition fees associated with the program.

* Administrative fees are very low. Administrative fees for attending the Humboldt University come to only approximately 250 Euros per semester.

* The School offers generous scholarships to the best applicants.
Students who were not successful in winning one of the school's own scholarships will receive support in obtaining alternative sources of funding (e.g. a research post within a university department or with one of the School's research groups, or help in finding alternative funding sources for a scholarship).

Recent progress in the neurosciences has opened up new and exciting avenues for research that raise challenging conceptual and ethical questions calling for an interdisciplinary approach. The Berlin School of Mind and Brain offers a unique research and training environment for doctoral candidates to work at this exciting interface between the sciences and the humanities.
