show[ 2 | 3] flat

went to Sonic youth show last night. I came in, the first band was just in the middle of a great syphonie of noise. The guy was walking through the stage with bouquet of bushes, hi-hat with a stand on his head. He was shaking and he was putting a microphone in a way, so he could capture the sound of this dance. The other guy had a mask of a frog-dinosaur on his face, I couldn't see all of them, but I noticed a hippie looking girl sitting next to the amp in a green dress. The guitar player with a small guitar. I was listening, I got into front and after a while they started playing one very nice beat all together, very strongly hitting, that turn me on. It was the climax. I noticed that they deconsturcted a drum set and few of them were banging into floors and toms. As I said I reminded me of a symphonie. They were pretty good.

Then the second band came in. I gotta check for their name, cuz this one was totally awesome. I kind of loose al my energy while they were playing. The girl in a great outfit, with white gloves was banging into keyboard and she started it all with a nice ear killing feedback, which was activated by her voice. She was messing around with some of the knobs, but the main effect, which was used was this really saturated echo going into feedback. She was singing in a very wild way. I dig it very much, cuz it was the end of everything. It was like a murder. Very wild, it was full of irony and mockery. that's why I could indentify. I feel like at home. Her co-players were non-different. the other keyboardist-guitar player had mask on, so you couldn't see his face. He was playing this simple stuff on an analog kind of synthetizer, but it sounded like a guitar. really grungy kind of thing. But the drummer was like a wild beast, playing this little role. It was awesome, he was playing a theatre all the time. And he was doing it so great! They were all pretty crazy. The drummer wore a little mask on his eyes and he looked like punk, really skinny, in a torn yellow T-shirt. He was shaking, doing macho poses, but it looked like he would mock them, ok? Total irony. He was playing a song, then he stood up and started walking around the stage, while the two others were playing real noise hell. It seemed like songs didn't have more then two-three part, but still it was very, very rich. When he started hitting the drums, I thought I would die from the strengt hof his hit. :"Wow," -I said to myself, lol. It was like THe Birthday party. Just a simple drum set, but it was so full, like when the drums are making you go tribal. And the cymbals will take you away. It's not like the usual usage of drums, no, the drums were somthing more in this band. It was like a solo, but not like John Bonham solo, he was playing it very simple, the power went to the strength of hit. I closed my eyes and it was taking me away, y;know. Pretty good band. Not many people liked them I guess, becuz noone really danced, bt for me it was pretty awesome.

and my ears are swimming in the sea

Then sonic youth went on. they started slowly with I love You golden blue, where Lee plays keyboards. It was very nice. Kim was standing in the middle of a stage. I guess they play in the same position every concert. The blue lights went on behind them. I liked the old lamps sparkling with Nurse pictures behind them. This song was pretty good to start with, cuz I was totally exhausted. This one was really beautiful. Then the chaos, organized chaos began. Pogo sucked me in and I found myself pushing and being pushed in a wonderful mixture of dancing people. Patttern Recognition was being played. Crowd surfing -wonderful. I was sorry, cuz I was totally exhausted. I started breathing regulary, so I could get the maximum energy, but I neede to back off of the wild crowd. I was still keeping some weird dimension goign on, I was dancing whatever weird dance came up my mind, cuz I was amost sure that as soon as I resign, I'm lost. They plaed the most of the songs from a new album. Before they played New Hapshire, Lee was saying something about the election in US. The crowd was booing, I was glad. The New Hapshire's refrain was when peope got crazy and then got calm in the verse. But the greatest moment came when Kim was singing the other kind of mellow song from Nurse. That was very magical. I can't decribe why exactly, but I've noticed some real vibe going on in the place. Then they played a few song from Sister. More people went crowd surfing and I saw three people, maybe four up above people's heads. It looked as though they were crucified. that was also a very nice moment. It was a poetic image. the music played a great role in it, I forgot which song they were playing, but I'd cut out a loop of these few seconds and play it over and over. You know like a movie-loop. You'd see what I mean. Something really magical was happening out thre. It was like a sign: "Power is yours. I am captain Planet!"-kind of thing. You know what I mean, u got it in your heart waiting to come up, like the beauty of all the beauties. One of the people who were crowd surfing went on the amp tower, and the security guy attacked him and he was chasing him over the hall. That was really a weird image. I looked at SY and I couldn't really understand why the security must be there. I guess they're really a huge band. "You're in a cage!" -I screamed at Thurston. "Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah!"- he said, I don;t know if he heard me, but well yeah. Who am I to judge? the music went on and some punk cilimbed at the stage and he touched Kim , who was singing at her waist. That was kind of weird, I dunno, for me women shouldn't be humiliated like that. I have a great respect for her and this guy he probably thought like they're all mine. Well, fuck off! go and fuck yourself. I'm not taking myself as being served, like Ok this is a band, my favourite band and they're playing FOR ME. No. no. They're playing music and I'd want to support them -I'm part of it. My task is to find the connection. It's never up there on the stage. My connection is within me. Just become you again and again and you'll find the common thing, cuz we're all so similar with each other when we find our total original selves. Yeah, it's a paradox, but it's true. This guy, he didn't appreciated, he was grabing. lol. Well, Kim gave him a lesson in Get into Car, I'm sorry I can't remeber the exact name, but it's on Sister. This song always evoked in me an image of this cruel rapist, fucked-up guy and his victim, well it's more about the twisted mind of this guy. It was a perfect song for that particular moment. Kim was smiling at Thurston so I figured out it wasn't a big deal. Anyhow, it sucked. I hate when somebody's doing his own shit and other people must stop him for whatever price, just becuz they're jealous of him, well her, jealous of Kim. Anyhow I really liked Mote, cuz I really liked the Goo album. especially Lee's voice in that special part. It's a megaphone sound on the record. That's a very good passage. They were doing encore for two times. Sugar Cane was really great and kind of surprise for me.The long feedback, people started applauding as thoug it was the end of a song and the riff kicked again -I was in ecstasy. Jumping all around, I just let myself being pushed and kept up jumping, that was the best way how to enjoy the concert. The audience was pretty nice, a lot of nice people. In the beginning I got stoned from a joint, which was passed to me by this great guy, who was dancing nevermid of the paranoia (what people think of me?). One girl gave me water, when I was just on the edge of dehydration. But with a smile!!!!!!! She gave me the bottle with a smile and like: Yeah, I know you need this, knock yourself out. We are all family shit, I hate when somebody is treating me like a stranger. I know you, you know me. We're all gonna die, so for whom do u play this game of pride? Two realy young girls were trying to see over the tall guys, I let them pass, but the guy in front of me, when they asked him he refused -that was so weird. Like, no I was here first. They couldn't see anything, shit. I was sorry for them, cuz in a way they were really young, like 15,16 and I was glad that they came to see SY, y'know like really underground band. That guy sucked. Yeah, I really like that people were going into short debates with me, well not everybody, but I guess when you listen to SY, you can't be that different from people who listen to it, cuz there's not much of them. Alienated can identify better.. That was cool. Iwent to have a drink with my friend and his friend and we discuss music and we were on the same vibe, pretty unusual, especially for me, who 's so sick of pretence.
